YDC is a professional Dance Company providing an inclusive, safe and supportive space for professional dancers to train, create and perform.
Company Director Sibylle Kockjeu started the Company with the wish to create a home for pro dancers in and around York where they could continue to train, become more versatile and stay hungry to learn and grow.
YDC also offers an amazing training platform for talented young dancers with their unique Associates programs as well as offering private tutoring for individuals or groups in a variety of styles.
The YORK DANCE COMPANY is proud to have performed for charity events, theatre performances and corporate events - and is available for selective bookings.
COMPANY DIRECTOR
Founder and Director, Sibylle Kockjeu, grew up in her mum's school for Ballroom Dancing, and started her dance journey in the competitive Latin world before deciding to get a degree in Modern Dance/Contemporary, studying 3 years of Graham technique in Germany. A few years later Sibylle then decided to train in commercial styles in London and New York. Her unusual combination of LATIN DANCE, CONTEMPORARY and COMMERCIAL has provided her with a rich and fulfilling career for over 20 years with the opportunity to live, dance and choreograph in several countries.
Sibylle is an award winning dancer. Her dancing highlights have been - dancing for Cheryl Cole & Dereck Hough, Combination Dance Company in London, White Noise Creations in Singapore, the National Theatre of Singapore, La Senza, BMW world launch event, BBC & ITV and the President of Singapore.
Sibylle has choreographed shows for theatre, stage, music videos, corporate events and fashion shows for clients like - Dom Perignon, Mercedes, BMW, VIP Club Pangaea, Shangri-La, the International Photography Festival, College of Fashion London, ITV, Amazon Prime, E4 and Netflix.
Always encouraging professional dancers to be open to new styles and pushing them out of their comfort zones, Sibylle offers the YORK DANCE COMPANY versatile dance training in all kinds of genres to keep their hearts and minds open and their dance passion well and truly alive.
